Shedtally

The trial

How long is the free trial?

Six weeks from the day you sign up, with everything switched on and no card needed.

What happens when the trial ends?

If you haven’t chosen a plan, your account becomes read-only: everyone can still sign in, see and export everything, but nothing new can be recorded. Choosing a plan unlocks it straight away, with your data as you left it.

Will my data be deleted if I don’t subscribe, or if I cancel?

Not straight away. After a trial ends without a plan, or after you cancel a paid plan, the account is kept read-only for 6 months. After that the data is deleted, and we warn the owner 30 days and 7 days before. Choosing a plan at any time before then unlocks it and cancels the deletion.

Pricing and paying

How much does it cost?

Dockets $49, Fleet & Safety $69 or Whole Yard $89 per truck a month, with monthly minimums of $149, $199 and $249. Every plan includes every feature and unlimited users.

How is the price worked out?

You choose a plan and the number of trucks when you start paying. The monthly price is that number times the plan’s per-truck price, or the plan’s minimum if that’s higher.

Is GST added?

Prices are in New Zealand dollars and exclude GST. GST is added only if Shedtally is registered for GST. It isn’t yet, so no GST is charged today. If that changes, you’ll get tax invoices.

What’s a founding customer?

The first 10 transport firms we invite get $49 a truck a month, locked for 24 months. Founding places are by invitation only. You can apply from the pricing page.

Is there a contract or setup fee?

No setup fee and no fixed term. You pay monthly and can cancel any time.

How do I cancel?

The owner cancels from Plan & billing in the app. Your plan ends at the end of the billing month, then the account becomes read-only for 6 months: you can still see and export everything, and choosing a plan unlocks it. After that the data is deleted, with warnings 30 days and 7 days before.

Your data

Where is my data stored?

Your records, photos and backups are stored in Microsoft Azure’s New Zealand North region, in Auckland. A few services run elsewhere (for example, the app’s screens are delivered from Microsoft’s global network); our security page lists them.

Is it backed up?

Every night, to separate, write-protected storage in Auckland. Deleted files are recoverable for 30 days.

Can other companies see my data?

No. Every request is checked against your company’s own ID, and an automated test tries to read one company’s data from another before every release. The release is blocked if it gets through.

Can I get my data out?

Yes. Owners can export everything at any time, including while the account is read-only.

How is my account protected?

Owners and admins use two-factor sign-in with an authenticator app, never text messages. We never sell your data or use it to train AI.

Phones and setup

Do drivers need to download an app?

No app store. Shedtally opens in the phone’s browser and installs to the home screen in two taps. See Get the app.

Does it work without signal?

Dockets and other records are saved on the phone when there’s no signal, and sent when it comes back.

How do I add my crew?

Send each person an invite link or show them a QR code. They sign in on their own phone and get the screens for their role.

Do subbies need an account?

No. A subbie gets a link to a single job, which they can see and complete without an account or an app.

Connections and support

Does it connect to Xero?

Yes. Connect your Xero organisation in setup to bring your customers across. Each night Shedtally reads your bank balance, monthly profit and loss and what you billed each customer. It’s read-only and never changes anything in Xero.

Does it work with EROAD?

Yes, two ways. Drop in an EROAD Depot export (or Teletrac Navman, Smartrak or Coretex), or paste your own EROAD API key so odometers come in daily. The direct connection is a beta: it’s live, but not yet tested with a customer’s own key.

How do I get help?

Email sebboardman00@icloud.com. We reply within one working day.

Is Shedtally a logbook?

No. Hours in Shedtally are for payroll. Drivers must still keep their NZTA logbook or an approved electronic logbook.

The full detail is in our terms and privacy policy. If anything here differs, the terms are what count.
